BY JAY DENSON There aren’t too many female MC’s who touch the mic and have a commanding presence such as Rah Digga. “CR” is the Show

BY HANNIBAL ALEXANDER If you feel like the current R&B scene is just recycled beats, concepts and hooks, you are not the only one! Finding a Title for Untitled

BY JAY DENSON When you think of R&B male groups as it applies today, the genre is almost non-existent. Gone are the days of Jodeci, Dru-Hill, and Boyz II Men who dominated the charts during the 90’s. If you were to stop and ask the average person who listens to R&B music some favorites, you’re almost [...]

According to Hazel-E

WRITTEN BY AJA DIONNE | PHOTOGRAPHY BY MICHAEL-ANTONIO HUNTER

hazel-e

Hazel-E has got to be one of the most interesting people on the planet. Actress turned party girl turned celebrity publicist turned Valley Girl rapper turned style maven…she is a force that has been slowly overtaking the world wide web and creeping up on the mouths (and into the ears) of men, women and teenagers nationwide. To know Hazel-E is to love her; she is a confident bish to say the least and with pop rap…oops, I meant POP-FUN records like “Pop My Butt” and “Swang It Anyways” hitting the internet sites on a daily, she is increasing her brand as the shit-talking prima donna rockstar that is both lovable and if this a word, hate-able. Hazel-E has been many things but what has always remained the same is her style. Full Blast Magazine got the chance to catch up with this busy bee to talk music and fashion.

FULL BLAST: There are so many people buzzing about you. What is the motivation behind Hazel-E?

HAZEL-E: Two things…the first is my passion for music and the arts of creating. I love rapping; I love the process of creating a song from beginning to end. Every one I do is like it’s my own masterpiece. Second, I would say proving people wrong! For some reason when people say “No Haze” that ain’t gonna work! I have to turn that into a “Yes I Can” moment!

FULL BLAST: You are always sporting the latest styles with your unique twist. Who is your fashion icon?

hazel9HAZEL-E: Carrie from Sex & the City! Just Kidding! There are so many people who I look up to in fashion like Madonna from her Like a Virgin days to Appolonia and Vanity Six with all of their sexy lace and garter belts to Kim Kardashian in her 99% flawless red carpet looks. I have to mention RiRi. She takes it there and looks great in literally a garbage bag, she did that too!

FULL BLAST: You do a lot of posing and picture taking so in a perfect world, what designers would you want to do national ads for?

HAZEL-E: Gucci, Louboutin, Alexander McQueen – for my label whores and for fun,  Candi’s & Abercrombie & Fitch.

FULL BLAST: You support up and coming designers…do they find you or do you find them? Who are they?

HAZEL-E: I do love new designers; they are so innovative & daring! It’s a mixture…sometimes I will ask someone who made that for them, and other times they will reach out and ask will I wear their pieces.  Right now, I’m really rocking a designer named Sammy B. out of New York. She does amazing dresses and onesies. For leggings and accessories I hit up North of Wilshire & Gilbeau out of Cali. My shades come from Stevie Boi a.k.a SB Shades.

FULL BLAST: You have created a signature look that your fans love to see. How does the Valley Girl theme tie into you fashion?

HAZEL-E: Well I don’t really do “Urban Fashion”. You will never catch me in some Baby Phat (LAUGHS). I like drama! The pieces that I wear are never simple. I like to make a statement every time I step into a room, whether it be based on colors, patterns, details of the pieces, I’m just not scared to take it there! And on my casual looks I live in a pair of tights and some pink Uggs, that’s such a Valley Girl look!

FULL BLAST: How does your fashion tie into your music?

hazelHAZEL-E: Well my flow is colorful!  I think I paint a picture with all of my music. I like to do themes or give messages in my songs, so when you see me I want to bring Hazel-E to life. If I was boring and blah, I don’t think my fans would be as interested. It’s about being a real life character and I’m definitely that!

FULL BLAST: What are your favorite colors to wear?

HAZEL-E: Black, black and more black! I like prints and patterns and colors are seasonal.

FULL BLAST: What are the fashion do’s and don’ts according to Hazel-E?

HAZEL-E: Do wear things that compliment your body without look slutty or frumpy. Do wear false eye lashes. Do wear heels that are 5 inches or more. Do wear accessories-but don’t look like a tacky Christmas tree! Do wear booty pads and push up bras and Spanx! It costs less and is not as permanent or damaging as plastic surgery! Do not wear fringes and keep the nail designs to a minimum! Oh and I’m not a fan of platforms and I’m very picky when it comes to wedges. Don’t wear flowy things with big sleeves and just don’t look stupid! (LAUGHS)

FULL BLAST: So many Do’s and Don’ts! Can you remember the worst fashion trend you followed?

HAZEL-E: Hmmm…I hate to admit it but China Bangs although I love them are just not flattering on me, and I think wearing tutu’s was not the smartest thing I did…

FULL BLAST: We agree on the bangs but what was your favorite trend of the past?

HAZEL-E: I think its still trending but I hope leggings and tights never go out of style! I love the exaggerated shoulders/small contoured waist line look…real popular in the 80’s but, the new twist on it in 2010 is fiyaaa!

FULL BLAST: OK so we want some dirt! Whose style do you hate?

HAZEL-E: Trina & Ashanti! I hate the whole “ghetto fab/diamond princess” themes…and those dancer stocking things are hideous!

FULL BLAST: Beyonce wears those dancer stockings too. What don’t you leave home without?

HAZEL-E: My cell phone! Just kidding… lip gloss, blot powder…because I’m an oily bish and eye lash glue just in case one of them suckers pop up on the sides! Oh yea and a hot pair of shades. They come in handy-day or night, believe that!

FULL BLAST: The seasons are changing so what are the must have accessories for this Fall?

HAZEL-E: Cute vintage jean jacket, some great riding or combat boots, a great slouch tee with some character, a good pair of patterned tights and I’m still a fan of the oversized purse. I am dying to have a big purple Croc Birkin bag!

FULL BLAST: Big purple Birkins sound yummy! What is the first though that comes to style-mind when you hear the name Kesha?

HAZEL-E: Grunge with a hint of fabulousness

FULL BLAST: Sherri Shepherd?

HAZEL-E: I don’t know what to call that!!

FULL BLAST: Gaga?

HAZEL-E: Iconic

FULL BLAST: Kim K?

HAZEL-E: Fashionista

FULL BLAST: Michelle Obama

HAZEL-E: Classic

FULL BLAST: MJ?

HAZEL-E: Legendary!

FULL BLAST: Angelina Jolie?

HAZEL-E: Sexy Kitty Kat

FULL BLAST: Montana Fishburne?

HAZEL-E: T-R-A-S-H

FULL BLAST: Leggings?

HAZEL-E: Owwwwww!

FULL BLAST: One sided Mohawks on men and women?

HAZEL-E: Love them!

FULL BLAST: Peep toe booties?

HAZEL-E: I swear by them!

FULL BLAST: Name brands?

HAZEL-E: I’m a label whore…

FULL BLAST: Bandage dresses?

HAZEL-E: Not for everyone!

FULL BLAST: Boyfriend jeans?

HAZEL-E: Cool & comfy

FULL BLAST: Pumps and socks?

HAZEL-E: If you are the girl next door…
